- Only new passenger vehicles (M1 category) sold in India are tested.
- Cars must have at least 6 airbags, seat belt reminders, ESC (electronic stability control), 3-point seat belts, etc., to qualify for 5-star ratings.

- Based on injury to head, chest, thighs, knees, legs (driver & passenger).
- Includes seatbelt reminders, airbags, structural integrity, etc.

- Max score: 49 points
- Includes use of child seats, ISOFIX mounts, airbag disabling features, restraint labels, etc.
